Why are we talking about detox and hair?
Zcue in collaboration with Tiens put on a Hair Detox and Wellbeing evening for its clients and guests on Tuesday 22nd Feb. The evening was put on to show how closely the condition of your hair is linked to your body’s wellbeing and how an occasional healthy detox can help to enhance the lifecycle of the hair and remove toxins.
The Guests- What they expected
Guests were asked what they expected from the night, one guest, Jackie stated “she was interested in knowing how detoxing could work for her, and if it could make her look 10 years younger!” Another guest, Margaret, was “interested in the maintenance of her hair and though she knew it (her body’s health) was important she was not completely sure what she needed to do”.
THE PRESENTATION
From the hair dressers point of view
Sam kicked of the evening talking about the hair conditions she has had to work with over many years, and how the hair changes, especially as we get older, for example hair thinning which can cause baldness, and be a sign of underlying medical issues such as diabetes. Samantha also added that though there are many things that they can do to improve the condition of the hair there are certain things that individuals can do themselves to improve the hairs condition.
From the medical experts point of view
Michael from ‘Tiens’ products is a medical professional and spoke about his experience and knowledge on this subject. He spoke of women being mostly concerned with:
• Beauty
• Confidence
• Career
and that these all linked back to the importance of good health as a foundation.
His concerns are that our bodies are under constant attack from everyday pollution in our environments and unhealthy lifestyles. This attacks our cells, which our bodies are made up of, and can, in turn, cause hormone imbalances (meaning too much oestrogen or too much testosterone in our system taken in from the foods we are eating), stress etc. In his view, the medical profession tend to treat the symptoms and we are not preparing our bodies or giving our bodies the best defence.
What can you do?
Nutrition is important for the health of our bodies, Michael referred to Chinese medicine and their 5000 year history of natural remedies for the body which can:

This means in order to maintain overall health we need to ensure we are nourishing every cell throughout our body, we need to know what we are feeding our bodies and how it is benefiting it. This will have a positive effect on the condition of hair, our skin, circulation and general well being.
